For the fourth year in a row Te Oro presents a fresh suite of Tongan short films to celebrate Uike 'o e Lea Tonga (Tongan Language Week).

Taking a lead from the Nukualofa Film Festival, this screening is brought together by accomplished Tongan filmmaker Vea Mafile’o and features six short films:

3 The Drink
The A Drink I have got the Power

Arrive early to enjoy pop up market stalls from rising Tongan entrepreneurs with jewellery, fashion, and works by artesan makers. Cash sales only.

Malosi Pictures with Jerry Tauamiti, Vea Mafile’o and Emily Mafile’o

Both Mafile’o sisters, Vea and Emily are of Tongan, English/Scottish descent and were born and raised in Hamilton, retaining strong ties to Tonga. They both have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts from the University of Auckland and work in the camera and screen industry in Tāmaki Makaurau.
