About

The programme aims to educate, inspire and motivate the next generation through creativity. The theme of the programme is waste.

To get our next generation on board with this goal, we need their voices to steer the wheel of change. So a group of industry professionals have come together to guide, teach and facilitate this kaupapa within a creative framework.

There will be three programmes;

1. Creating and making musical instruments from waste materials with The Roots Creative Entrepreneurs
2. Writing and Recording Music with Crescendo Trust Aotearoa
3. Video and Edit with Freelance Lecturer and Filmmaker Venusi Taumoepeau

The outcome of this programme will produce a song about waste with an accompanied music video. We also hope to perform the song at an event at the end of the programme to showcase to their family, friends and community.

We are now taking registrations for this programme. Spaces are limited, so we are asking teachers to put forward students who would benefit and add value to this project.

The programme is funded by Auckland Council, and is free for students. The song will be offered to the Waste team at Auckland Council as an education resource.
