About

This development programme is for Maori and Pacific Island Youth Choreographers who wish to create new dance works. Open to 15-22 year old.

Pacific Dance New Zealand is pleased to open a call out for our new Maori and Pacific Youth Choreographic Lab.

For this new initiative we are looking for three youth candidates who will be selected to create a new short dance work with the support of a dance mentor that has professional industry experience.

The successful candidates will work at Te Oro over a two week workshop period in the July School Holidays and the new works will have a final showing on Friday 21 July 2017.

Interested candidates should write a short application of 2 to 3 sentences per section about:
• What the work is about.
• How long the piece will be: i.e. 15- 20 mins
• How many dancers involved.

We just need to know what it is you want to explore and what genre you will be using to create your work.

The successful candidates will have the use of Te Oro Dance Studio, Mon- Fri, to create work at allocated times in the 2 weeks of the July School Holidays. The mentors will meet regularly with the choreographers to provide creative advice and direction.

Criteria:
• Be available to work at Te Oro 10 to 14 July and 17 to 21 July.
• Aged between 15-22
• Maori or Pacific

To apply send your application to info@teoro.org.nz or for more details feel free to call us at Te Oro 09 890 8560. Applications close for this opportunity on 3rd July.
