Auckland Museum

Auckland War Memorial Museum is New Zealand's first Museum.

The Museum tells the story of New Zealand, its place in the Pacific and its people. The Museum is a war memorial for the province of Auckland and holds one of New Zealand's top three heritage libraries.

It has pre-eminent Māori and Pacific collections, significant natural history resources and major social and military history collections, as well as decorative arts and pictorial collections.

Fafine Niutao I Aotearoa
This group of some 30 women identifies mainly from the small island of Niutao in the Tuvalu group. They live in Auckland and are right into the revival and recovery of Tuvaluan arts and crafts. In Feb 2017 they exhibited ‘Kolose: The art of Tuvalu crochet at Pataka Art & Museum

Kelesoma Saloa
Born and educated in Tuvalu Kelesoma comes from a long line of artists, fishermen, story tellers and cultural practitioners. He holds a Master degree in International Relations from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. He has a specific interest in natural disaster management, global warming and sea level rise in small Pacific island nations. Kelesoma works for Auckland War Memorial Museum
