About

Join Te Puera Tiare O Te Uki Ou Vainetini and learning about the traditional craft of tivaivai making.
Te Puera Tiare O Te Uki Ou Vainetini meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Te Oro to share and create tivaivai as part of a community residency.

Te Puera Tiare O Te Uki Ou Vainetini welcome you all to join them at these monthly sessions to socialise and learn.

Tivaivai is an expression of each individual's passion and love for their culture. Tivaivai are prized gifts and are usually only gifted on special occasions. More commonly made as heirlooms to pass on to future generations, Tivaivai is gifted as a reminder to come back home to the islands.

Tivaivai are made through a process of selecting materials, cutting patterns and using multiple sewing techniques. An exciting opportunity to showcase the creative nature of the Vainetini.

Dates for the rest of 2019:

Tues 22 Oct, 10 am - 1pm
Tues 26 Nov , 10am -1pm
