As part of Auckland museum`s exhibition called ‘Volume: Making Music in Aotearoa’ this event directly engages community drumming groups with the public. A specially curated programme encompasses interactive workshops, participatory learning, object handling and live performances. This programme gives the audience an opportunity to experience the different variations of drumming genre from around the world and to learn how a drumline has influenced popular music. Come along and be mesmerised by that heart thumping beat of the drums. No experience required and be prepared to be loud at times

Auckland Museum

Auckland War Memorial Museum is New Zealand's first Museum.

The Museum tells the story of New Zealand, its place in the Pacific and its people. The Museum is a war memorial for the province of Auckland and holds one of New Zealand's top three heritage libraries.

It has pre-eminent Māori and Pacific collections, significant natural history resources and major social and military history collections, as well as decorative arts and pictorial collections.
