Matariki on the Move tours Māori arts around Tāmaki Makaurau. This year there are three very different Matariki on the Move events; Kōrero, Ngahau and Waiata.

Discover Māori entertainment and its significance to the music of the war era with an unmissable cabaret-style music showcase by the Modern Māori Quartet. This touring musical performance will be taking place at locations from Papakura to Pakiri.

Modern Māori Quartet (MMQ)

We are the Modern Māori Quartet (MMQ) – James Tito, Matariki Whatarau, Maaka Pohatu and Francis Kora – a Māori foursome with a fresh take on classic Māori showbands. We love crooning our spin on modern and classic numbers, and we’re now on a journey to release our debut album of original waiata (music). We can’t wait to share what we’ve created with you.
