About
In celebration of Lunar New Year, Te Oro
invites you to experience the Chinese
tradition of giving and receiving red
envelopes (hongbao 红包).
Each special envelope contains a unique
artwork designed by veteran Kiwi artist
Ant Sang, known for his distinctive style
and storytelling.
These unique artworks are paired with
words of wisdom from ancient Chinese
sages, offering inspiration and reflection
as we enter the new year.
These artworks will also be exhibited at
Te Oro's new digital screens in the front
entrance area.
Te Oro
The long-held community dream of a music and arts centre for young people in Glen Innes is here.
In this multi-purpose space, young people and the local community can come together to perform, practise and learn the arts; express their creativity and talents; and celebrate their cultures.
Ant Sang
Ant Sang has been drawing since he was a kid.
Brought up in New Zealand and Hong Kong, he lived on a heady diet of comics, cartoons, anime, sci-fi and Shaw Brothers kung fu films.
In the mid-90s, inspired by the alternative comics scene, he began writing, drawing and self-publishing mini-comics. Since then Ant has become one of New Zealand’s most well-known and respected graphic novelists.
From his studio in Auckland, Ant has won awards for his graphic novels and character designs. His comics have been published in the US, UK, Canada, France, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.
Ant loves creating powerful, emotive, thought-provoking stories with an edge of dark humour. Although primarily known for telling stories in the visual medium of comics, he is also an emerging filmmaker and now divides his time between comic and film projects.
