About

Nan is an archive of loving memories dedicated to our late nana, Aliivaine Makavani.

Shared through the clothing she wore and the spaces she moved through, Nan explores time, memory, and presence.

Drawing from her wardrobe and personal belongings, we reflect on how fabric and adornment continue to hold traces of her. Each outfit evoke a memory. Each space holds a stillness. Through the folds of fabric, and familiar corners, we connect with her essence and her style.

This is not just a remembrance of who she was, but a feeling of the love she left behind.

NAN is created by Melody-Jazz Makavani and Zanalee Makavani.

Across the Moana is a collection of exhibitions curated by Wheke Fortress that celebrates the power of cross cultural connections, chosen family and community.

Inspired by the legacy of Reina Sutton, an artist and event organiser who fought for marginalised creatives. This show brings together artists who Reina loved and whose work reflects her enduring memory as a curator.

Across The Moana honours the lasting bonds of friendship and the voices and spaces Reina passionately supported. It is a tribute to the connections that continue to inform and guide us.
