About

Discover the timeless beauty of Cloisonné
Enamel in this engaging, hands-on
workshop! Perfect for beginners and
creative enthusiasts alike, this workshop
introduces you to the traditional technique of
Cloisonné in a modern, accessible format.
You’ll learn how to carefully bend and shape
delicate metal wires to form intricate
patterns and designs. Then, bring your
creation to life by filling the spaces with
vibrant coloured sand—no melting or firing
required.
This method makes the art form safe and
approachable for kids 8+ and all skill levels.
Guided step by step by an experienced
tutor, you’ll have the opportunity to express
your creativity while learning a culturally rich
and rewarding craft. By the end of the
session, you’ll take home a beautiful piece
of enamel art that reflects your personal
style.
All tools and materials are provided, so just
bring your curiosity and enthusiasm. Join us
and create something truly unique and
meaningful!

Michelle Zhao

Based in Auckland, I am multidisciplinary
artist and workshop facilitator with over 10
years of hands-on experience in macramé,
leathercraft, and cloisonné enamel. For the
past six years, I have been sharing my skills
through teaching, including two years of
delivering creative workshops across
libraries, community centres, and art
galleries in Tāmaki Makaurau. My sessions
are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and
suitable for all skill levels.
I hold an Adult and Tertiary Teaching
Certificate from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa
and am currently expanding my cultural
knowledge through learning Māori wood
carving. This journey enriches my practice
and deepens the connection between my
craft and local heritage.
Whether working with adults, children, or
whānau groups, I aim to create meaningful,
hands-on experiences that empower
participants through creativity and cultural
expression. I also enjoy tailoring workshops
to align with seasonal or cultural themes
