A practitioner of taonga pūoro, the artform that flows in his veins. The current visual artist in residence at Te Oro, he acknowledges those that have contributed to his journey.

HOA RAU HUA RAU is a celebration of Tāmaki Oro Rau, an Auckland-based collective dedicated to the resurgence and rēhia of taonga pūoro. The exhibition looks at some of the many ways taonga pūoro can and are used across Polynesia’s largest city. Accompanying this is a soundscape recorded in Te Oro’s studios and on the slopes of Maungarei by Tāmaki Oro Rau members using the taonga pūoro on display. Curated by Mikaere Berryman-Kamp, HOA RAU HUA RAU aims to bring te oro to Te Oro and profile the practice that enriches Tāmaki Oro Rau.
