Sione Monu is a Tongan visual artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Their practice explores identity, culture, diaspora, and the connections between traditional forms of adornment and contemporary art. Working with materials such as beads, photography, and moving image, Sione creates works that reflect Pacific histories, memories, and lived experiences. Through their kahoa workshops, Sione shares the cultural significance of adornment while inviting participants to create their own expressions of connection, storytelling, and creativity.

Join Sione Monu for a kahoa-making workshop exploring the cultural significance of Tongan adornment and the stories held within these cherished forms. Participants will learn about the traditions of kahoa while creating their own experimental pieces kahoa pieces.
