About
Veteran photographer Jamie ‘OneDeap’ McCready presents a captivating retrospective, showcasing three decades of iconic analogue 35mm and 120 film photographs. This exhibition delves deep into the vibrant heart of Aotearoa's hip-hop subculture, capturing its art, music, and dance elements.
Step back to the early 2000s, a period of resurgence for NZ hip-hop. Immerse yourself in the energy of pivotal events, relive special moments, and explore portraits that celebrate some of the scene's key players.
A highlight of the exhibition is the launch of OneDeap's new zine, a visual chronicle of the groundbreaking "Disrupt the System" graffiti event in 2000 organized by the then 21-year-old Askew, with the guidance of legendary artist Mike Weston.
Delivered in partnership with The Good The Bad Gallery and the Bradley Lane Project 2025.

Jamie 'OneDeap' McCready
Jamie ‘OneDeap’ McCready is the original TMD documentarian who started taking photos of graffiti with his mum’s disposable film camera in 1997 after recognising that writers at the time were not documenting their pieces and being inspired by Charles Williams aka Phat1 to do so.
He then continued to hone his craft by continuing to become the staff photographer for the iconic ‘Disrupt’ and ‘Back2Basics’ hip-hop magazines.
OneDeap now holds one of the most extensive early NZ graffiti collections which also shows the changing landscape of Auckland City. His early graffiti archive has been accessioned by the Auckland Library and housed as a manuscript collection. He has recently contributed to two major exhibitions with the Dowse Art Museum and Canterbury Museum alongside his TMD Whānau.
His works also feature in the short form doco series NZ Hip Hop Stand Up – directed by Chris Graham and produced by the Downlow Concept.
OneDeap is a long-standing supporter of local Aotearoa hip-hop artists and continues to tautoko and influence a new generation of musicians, photographers, and art enthusiasts with his eye for detail, friendly nature, and local knowledge.
OneDeap grew up in West Auckland and currently resides in Te Atatū Peninsula. He is a dad to four big kids and a Pitbull.
