About
Niue Hiapo printmaking sessions with ink on jute bags with Tupumaiaga A Niue Trust in celebration of Niue Language Week at Te Oro.Our trust uses hiapo patterns and design stencils that are hand carved and that reflects the land, plants and the ocean of Niue Island. Please join us in celebrating Niue Language Week with hiapo art!
Vision
Tupumaiaga exists to interweave Niue culture and heritage arts with Niue youth and families from Niue, New Zealand and around the world, to re-connect them with their Niuean identity.
Objective
Our objective is to get Niue youth and families to re-connect with their Aga Fakamotu-their Niue heritage through participation in our language, arts, cultural and heritage workshops. These are workshops that connects back to our Niue identity, heritage arts and culture, language which promotes positive mental health & well being for Niue Youth & Families. We also provide youth mentorship, supporting youth to be future Niue leaders and professionals within our committee, as they gain valuable experience in trust governance and management.
Te Oro
The long-held community dream of a music and arts centre for young people in Glen Innes is here.
In this multi-purpose space, young people and the local community can come together to perform, practise and learn the arts; express their creativity and talents; and celebrate their cultures.
