About
The recipient of the 2016 Pacific Dance Artist in Residence is Tuiahai (Hai) Tuiafitu. We are privileged to have Tuiahai as our first ever residence artist.
Tuiahai is a Tongan dancer and choreographer who has been part of the Atenisi Foundation for the Performing Arts (AFPA) for a number of years.
These are styles of dance he will be teaching while on his residency in Aotearoa. Tuaihai describes them as the four pillars of heritage Tongan dance (still practiced today):
‘Otuhaka , Me’etu’upaki , Faha’i-ula (ula) , Tau’olunga
Mon: 4:30 pm - 7.30pm
Wed: 4:30 pm - 7.30pm
Sat: 3:00 pm - 6.00pm
