About
Te Oro proudly presents Pollywood Pasifika Film 242026
24 years by any measure is significant. Physical & Mental health with an equally generous amount of time is willingly sacrificed for the hope of sustainability and continuity. Pollywood Pasifika Film stands steadfast and resolved in its purpose to champion Pasifika talent in film and multi-media art in all capacities of production. In short, 24 years is only the beginning of the journey to ensure Pasifika people have the opportunity to independently share unique and often marginalized narratives.
’Daunitukutuku’, Written, Directed & Produced by Fiji native, Tumeli Tuqota, references historical strength, integral for survival, equality and peace. Far from the welcoming smiles and hospitality you know of Fiji and its people, ‘Daunitukutuku’ gifts you insight to an inherent warrior spirit that is far from forgiving and focuses on the protection of true Fiji and its people. Defiant and rebellious.
Strength comes in many forms, given adversity has many faces. ‘Ciggie’, Written and Directed by Isaac Ieremia of Samoan and European descent, confronts domestic violence potentially nurturing the idea that positivity and healing is a mindset that permits you to do and be better. Inspiring and honest.
Struggle will shape the challenges you face; The film ‘The Return’ by established Director, Writer, Marina Alofagia McCartney of Sāmoeleoi, Sālilomaiava, Geordie & Romanichal ancestry speaks of facing childhood trauma born of a mixed race heritage. ‘The Return’ is a ‘return’ of strength to defy an upbringing of torment. Powerful & provocative.
Pollywood Pasifika Film 242026 shares 7 consciously curated films that will challenge your own narratives, conflict with original thought and linger with you long after you leave the event. Hosted by Pollywood founder / director, Craig Fasi, 4 x scheduled screenings will be held in South, Central, East & West Auckland locations. In true festival style - a conversation with the directors of the films will take place at the end of the screening that will be facilitated by Mr Fasi which serves as a perfect opportunity to know the ‘creation story’ of the film and ask the director any questions.
