Te Oro Music and Art Centre is the culmination of a long-held community dream for a multi-purpose space where youth, creatives and the local community can perform, practise and learn the arts, express their creativity and talents, and celebrate their cultures.

Te Oro is now accepting applications for the 2025 Art & Performance Residency Programme. This is open for both individuals and collectives/crews.Residents will have access to Te Oro facilities, resources, support and networking opportunities to help achieve their project goals.

Te Oro will select between four to six residency projects to support. The residencies are open across visual arts, digital design/media, dance, theatre, film and fashion - as long as there is a sound idea and goals behind your proposal which also aligns with Te Oro’s vision to serve its local community.

Scope and Time Period
- Up to 6x 4 month residencies per year: Apr-Jul, Aug-Nov, Dec-Mar
- Access to studio and facilities during operating hours M-F 9am-7pm, Sat 9am-4pm
- Where possible, artist to engage with online/media platforms i.e. interviews and personal social media promo of their residency, workshops, exhibition etc

Selection Criteria:
- Emerging to mid-career artists 18 years old and over
- The residency would contribute to the artists’ creative and professional development
- Artists’ proposed project is realistic with good ideas and goals
- Open for individuals or collectives/groups that can nominate a single point of contact for all liaison
- Local (Glen Innes and neighbouring suburbs) artists/groups/iwi given preference
- NZ residents residing in Auckland

Visual Artists/Collectives:
The 4 month residency programme at Te Oro provides an opportunity for visual artists to have their own designated studio space with opportunities to teach paid workshops and exhibit a body of work at Te Oro’s Te Omaru Gallery. Artists will also receive a $500 stipend to cover materials.

Dance/Theatre/Performance Artists/Collectives:
The 4 month dance residency at Te Oro provides an opportunity for artists to have access to Te Oro’s dance studio with opportunities to teach paid workshops, tech and venue support to produce a box office show/public performance at Te Oro's Taurere theatre/performance space.
