About
Te Oro Music and Arts Centre Celebrates Milestone Decade of Creative Excellence
Te Oro Music and Arts Centre marks its transformative 10-year journey as a premier creative hub in the heart of Glen Innes with a landmark celebration ‘Te Oro Tekau’ on Saturday 10 May 2025. This free community event welcomes people of all ages, near and far, to join in marking this significant milestone.
Since opening its doors in 2015, Te Oro has established itself as a vital beacon for storytelling, creativity, and cultural connection in East Auckland. This milestone event showcases the centre's unwavering commitment to nurturing diverse creative disciplines including Māori and Pasifika arts and culture through music, visual arts, and performance.
Te Oro Tekau is more than just an anniversary – it's a celebration of the community's creative spirit. Over the past decade, countless young artists have journeyed and discovered their voices and cultural identity through the centre.
The anniversary celebration will feature live performances from past and present Te Oro artists, interactive arts activities, and food trucks offering delicious kai. The event embodies the centre's core values of manaakitanga (hospitality), whanaungatanga (connection), and kotahitanga (unity).
This celebration will take place on Saturday 10 May, 2-9pm.
